“Miró: Master of Forms” arrives in São Paulo in August, featuring more than 140 original works by the artist. The collection brings together paintings, sculptures, and photographs from 14 different European museums, private collections, and even Joan Miró’s own family. In August, the Water Lantern invites the public in São Paulo to release eco-friendly paper lanterns, recharging their energy under the light of the lake. The event will feature food and drink stands, music, and a team responsible for collecting the lanterns, with a focus on sustainability.

Nubank Arte Lab, São Paulo’s newest cultural center, opens its doors in August with the largest immersive exhibition ever dedicated to Tarsila do Amaral. Celebrating the artist’s 140th birthday, the exhibition spans 1,300 m² and features 360-degree projection rooms, augmented reality, interactive installations, and soundtracks paired with scents. It’s an incredible opportunity to experience modernist art with all your senses and wander through iconic works such as *Abaporu* and *Operários*.

A staple of the underground scene, this electronic music festival brings Brazilian DJ and producer Vinicius Honório back to São Paulo in August. Based in London, he has performed at international clubs such as Tresor and FOLD. The event will take place at Teatro Mars, with its industrial architecture, offering an immersive experience focused on the hypnotic aspects of techno.
Brooklin Taste 2026
Celebrating its fourth anniversary, this outdoor urban festival draws inspiration from the famous Brooklyn neighborhood in New York City. In addition to offering the best of local cuisine (such as pastrami sandwiches and New York-style pizza slices), the festival features live music, a dog walk, sports activities, a handmade crafts fair, and children’s attractions.
FILE Festival 2026
The International Festival of Electronic Language returns to São Paulo in August, bringing together art, technology, and cultural innovation. The curated program features works in virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence, animation, and digital architecture. In addition, the lineup includes lectures and workshops.
Cine na Praça 2026
If you’re a die-hard movie buff looking to save money, Cine na Praça is a great place to go in São Paulo this August. The project features free outdoor movie screenings at the CCSP’s Jardim Suspenso, showcasing 12 acclaimed films. The lineup includes romantic comedies, travel films, and special retrospectives dedicated to directors Quentin Tarantino and Stanley Kubrick. All of this, of course, comes with popcorn!
Another musical tip for enjoying August in São Paulo is the beautiful Candlelight concerts! This month, the capital hosts very special candlelight shows that pay tribute to the great names in pop, rock, and classical music. Highlights include:

The traditional Cherry Blossom Festival in Campos do Jordão returns in August with Japanese cuisine, workshops, and cultural performances. In addition to the stunning cherry blossoms in bloom, a highlight is the tea ceremony, an ancient tradition of the Land of the Rising Sun.
One outdoor attraction to enjoy in August is admiring São Paulo’s ipê trees. The month is marked above all by the blooming of the yellow ipê, which heralds the arrival of spring in the city of São Paulo. You can admire the trees in bloom at Ibirapuera Park, which takes on a special burst of color at this time of year!

The artistic intervention selected for the Jardim Imaginário program features four actors performing as living statues on the museum grounds. The work creates a reflective bridge between the architecture of this São Paulo home and Sanssouci Palace in Germany, questioning notions of leisure, work, and time in the urban space. This August, São Paulo is transforming into an open-air gallery! The city is hosting 91 sculptures from *Turma da Mônica* in honor of Mauricio de Sousa’s 90th birthday.
