For those who don’t remember, the original version of “Alegría” premiered in Brazil exactly 20 years ago, in 2006. It was so successful that it created a historic bond between the country and the company, paving the way for the many performances that followed. Cirque du Soleil in São Paulo: the revolution of “Alegría – A New Day”
“Alegría” premiered in 1994 and established itself as Cirque’s most iconic production, impacting more than 14 million people around the world. Its soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy in 1995 and remains the company’s best-selling and most streamed album in history.
The revamped version tells the story of a court jester who, in the absence of a king, attempts to seize power in a kingdom in decline. However, the population revolts and a playful duel ensues, filled with acrobatics, a live soundtrack, and jaw-dropping costumes.
Since its global premiere in 2019, “Alegría – A New Day” has already enchanted almost 4 million people. The production promises to be a milestone in the history of Cirque du Soleil in São Paulo, bringing a strong cast: there will be 54 artists from 18 different countries, including Brazilian talents, on stage.
How to secure your place in the Big Top
Cirque du Soleil will perform in São Paulo from August 20 to November 8, at Villa-Lobos Park, with sessions from Wednesday to Sunday. The show will be held in a Big Top tent , whose colossal structure will be 51 meters in diameter.
Tickets cost from R$ 240 to R$ 1,430 (first batch prices), with several options available. Tickets will be sold on the official website (subject to convenience fees) and at physical box offices, with no extra costs. Check the sales calendar so you don’t miss out:

The show is suitable for all ages, but it is worth remembering that children under 14 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
