In July and August, Campos do Jordão hosts the 2026 Cherry Blossom Festival. This will be the 55th edition of the event, which allows visitors to enjoy the delicate blooming of the sakura! It’s the perfect excuse to escape São Paulo and enjoy the mountains in a unique way, amidst a sea of flowers and Japanese-themed attractions.
The event will take place every weekend at Parque da Cerejeira, about 180 kilometers from São Paulo. How about planning a day trip, enjoying the cool weather of the Mantiqueira Mountains, and connecting with nature in a different way?
Festival in the São Paulo countryside combines tradition and solidarity
The festival is inspired by hanami, an ancient Japanese custom of contemplating the blooming of cherry trees and celebrating the fleeting beauty of life. For this reason, the trees in the park are a type of ornamental species typical of Japan that , instead of bearing fruit, blooms only once a year.
But the beauty of the Campos do Jordão Cherry Blossom Festival goes far beyond the flowers. Organized by the Japanese-Brazilian community, the event donates all proceeds to Sakura Home Senior Care Center. Thus, the cost of tickets and purchases at the food stalls directly helps maintain this senior care center.
Over the decades, the event has grown and established itself as the region’s most traditional cherry blossom festival. Visiting the park means supporting a noble cause, preserving the memory of immigrants, and , of course, experiencing atruly cultural immersion in Japanesecustoms!
2026 Cherry Blossom Festival Program: Asian cuisine, mountain delicacies, and entertainment
Cuisine is one of the festival’s highlights. At the food court, you cansavor Japanese culinary classics such as sushi, yakisoba, tempura, udon, and traditional mochi. If you prefer, you can also sample mountain delicacies like roasted pine nuts, artisanal chocolates, and grilled trout, as well as pastries, hamburgers, and a variety of snacks.
In addition to enjoying great food, visitors to the Campos do Jordão Cherry Blossom Festival can explore craft shops and interactive experiences, including origami workshops, traditional dance performances, and taiko ( Japanese drumming). Another highlight is the tea ceremony, a custom dating back to 9th-century Japan. You won’t want to miss it, will you?
