5. Altino Arantes Building
Built in 1947, the Altino Arantes Building (also known as Banespão or Farol Santander) was, for many years, the tallest building in São Paulo. After all, it is 161 meters high, something that wasn’t very common in the 1940s!
Over the years, however, several skyscrapers have sprung up around the capital and Banespão has fallen down the ranking. It is currently the 5th tallest building in São Paulo.
4. Italy Building
Next up is another iconic building in the São Paulo landscape. A symbol of Italian ascendancy in São Paulo, the Itália Building is one of the tallest in the capital, drawing the attention of those passing through the center of the capital. Its great feature is the Terraço Itália a rooftop restaurant with a breathtaking view.
At 165 meters high, it is now the 4th tallest skyscraper in São Paulo.
3. Figueira Altos do Tatuapé
In 2021, São Paulo received its newest skyscraper, the Figueira Altos do Tatuapé. At 168 meters high, it became the tallest residential building in the capital at the time , and the second tallest overall. Today, however, it is third on the list.
2. Mirante do Vale
In second place is Mirante do Vale, another iconic building in the capital, standing 170 meters high. Inaugurated in 1966, it was the capital’s tallest skyscraper for over 60 years, and until 2024, it was also the tallest building in Brazil.
The building has more than a thousand stores, rooms and commercial halls, receiving an average audience of 30,000 people a day. 1. Platinum 220
Finally, we have it: the biggest skyscraper in SP! The current holder of this title is Edifício Platina 220, on the east side of the capital. The development has a mix of residential apartments, stores, commercial rooms and even a hotel.
At 172 meters high, it is currently the tallest building in São Paulo, as well as the 15th tallest in Brazil.
