Located in the Serra do Mar mountain range, between Mogi das Cruzes and Bertioga, Parque das Neblinas is a private reserve dedicated to research, conservation of the Atlantic Forest, and ecotourism.
Managed by the Ecofuturo Institute, the park, established in 2004, underwent a process of restoring eucalyptus-covered areas, which was the land’s original use in the past.
Today, the park is an important hub for environmental education and an open-air laboratory for scientific research. In addition, it promotes responsible ecotourism.
One of the outposts of the São Paulo City Green Belt Biosphere Reserve, Neblinas Park also works to protect the Atlantic Forest biome through sustainable management of local biodiversity and the conservation of endangered species.
Local biodiversity
With an area of approximately 7,000 hectares of preserved forest, the Parque d s forms the buffer zone for the Serra do Mar State Park, an area considered the largest contiguous stretch of Atlantic Forest in the country.
The name, which refers to the mists, is no coincidence: in addition to rivers, waterfalls, and 530 springs, the area is home to valleys and patches of dense forest that are constantly shrouded in mist.
Furthermore, the area is home to more than 1,403 recorded species. Of these, 41 are threatened to some degree, and four are new discoveries in the wild, comprising fauna and flora native to the Atlantic Forest.
What to do at Parque das Neblinas?
With low-impact ecotourism activities, the park offers experiences for the whole family, from the most adventurous visitors to those traveling with children.
The site offers canoeing on the Itatinga River, cycling tours, and birdwatching. In addition, visitors can camp in the area and enjoy an even closer experience with nature.
However, the park’s main attraction is its self-guided trails of varying difficulty levels. These include long routes such as the 19-kilometer “Caminhos de Tropa.” Along the way, visitors can explore waterfalls, old charcoal kilns, and boardwalks.
For those who prefer a shorter hike—such as beginners and families—the more leisurely trails feature flat sections and spots focused on environmental education.

Parque das Neblinas typically admits a limited number of visitors at a time. For this reason, the visitation system is regulated and requires advance booking. Admission is charged, and tickets range from R$ 45 to R$ 200 per person, depending on the activity booked.
The park is located on SP-102 ( Prefeito Francisco Ribeiro Nogueira Highway), km 85, in the rural area of the Taiaçupeba district. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
