Some of the best-known spots in São Paulo are in the South Zone. There you’ll find museums, parks, the city zoo and untouched nature that many Paulistanos can’t even imagine.
The truth is that every part of the capital has a lot to offer and you have to take advantage of it. So, how about getting to know a little of what ZS has to offer?
Here are some of the places you have to visit in the South Zone:
Ibirapuera Park
Although the city has more than 100 public parks, it’s impossible not to mention the one most visited by the population, Ibirapuera Park. Inside, you can visit museums, the Bienal building, the auditorium, the Oca and other iconic places in the city.

Bairro do Ipiranga
One of the city’s most traditional neighborhoods is known for having been the scene of the country’s Proclamation of Independence, but there’s more to see there. We’ve already told you about five places to visit there here.
São Paulo Cultural Center
It is considered one of the city’s main cultural venues, located close to Vergueiro station. There, you can enjoy a space with a garden, library and other activities.

The institution plays a fundamental role in preserving the national audiovisual scene and there you can even find free screenings to enjoy a good movie. Keep an eye on the program!

Botanical Garden
The São Paulo Botanical Garden, with 360 square meters for visitors, offers a spectacular tour for São Paulo residents. Various landscapes offer the opportunity to observe and contemplate nature in the middle of the city.

São Paulo Zoo
Inaugurated in 1958, this is one of the most emblematic sights in São Paulo . If you don’t know it yet, take advantage of the season to visit the animals and connect with nature at this zoo.

Safari Zoo
Opened on June 5, 2001, Zoo Safári is located next to the São Paulo Zoo. In a total area of 80,000 m², dozens of wild animals are presented to the public along a route of approximately 2.9 km.

4 waterfalls in the South Zone

Capivari-Monos Reserve
Still on the wave of hard-to-believe places that exist within São Paulo, the Capivari-Monos Environmental Protection Area brings together waterfalls, springs, wild animals and three indigenous villages, all in the far south of São Paulo.

Guarapiranga Dam
On the border between the South Zone and Itapecerica da Serra, the reservoir is used as a place for water sports and leisure along its 28-kilometer stretch of banks, with a particular emphasis on sailing sports.
Guarapiranga Sacred Ground
Inaugurated in 1995, the Sacred Ground was built by the World Messianic Church of Brazil on the banks of the Guarapiranga reservoir in São Paulo, in an area of 327,500 square meters. It is considered one of the most beautiful natural sites in the city.
