In the heart of Mooca, Casa Prétola Café is a charming old house, dating back to 1921, that offers generous brunches in an atmosphere as cozy as our grandmother’s home. It’s the perfect spot for chilly weather, a place where you can spend hours leisurely eating while exploring the property.
Conceived by a mother and daughter, the concept behind Casa Prétola stemmed from a family passion for cafés and cozy spots around the city. Responsible for the decor and every detail, they managed to bring their original vision to life in the space, which required restoration work prior to its recent opening.
However, even after the minor renovations, the residence retained many of the original elements from its 1920 construction. The floors, architectural details, and walls remain the same. In addition to the charm that the tree-lined setting brings, with plenty of plants and a backyard that will take you back to your childhood.
The establishment is usually filled with instrumental music and even has a grand piano on site. Despite being an old house, there are also Instagram-worthy spots for photos.
The dining experience at Casa Prétola Café

The menu is full of generous portions and beautifully presented dishes; the restaurant focuses on combining hearty food with the warm, welcoming vibe of grandma’s house. The brunch options are organized by name, which makes it easier to order and mix and match.
The menu includes hot and cold beverages, Italian soda, breads, and fruit, as well as sweet and savory dishes, allowing for a complete and balanced meal during your visit.
The nod to grandmothers isn’t limited to the decor; that same care is evident in the naturally leavened breads and fresh cakes, all prepared daily.
