The City of São Paulo is launching the Nova Paraisópolis program, which calls for a series of urban and road improvements in the region. Among the projects is the extension and redevelopment of Hebe Camargo Avenue, creating a direct connection between Paraisópolis and the São Paulo–Morumbi Station on Line 4 (Yellow).
According to city projections, this new connection will reduce travel time by approximately 60% to 67%. In addition, the new section will eliminate the detour currently required to reach the subway.
In the project, the extension spans approximately 1.2 km, connecting Hebe Camargo Avenue to Jules Rimet Avenue, with four cross-connections. As for the internal movement of people, the alleys in the area are undergoing studies to improve access to services and transportation.
The connection to Line 4 (Yellow) and the future connection to Line 17 (Gold)

The expansion of the tracks does not mean the creation of a new station in Paraisópolis. The connection to Line 4 (Yellow) is strategic because it provides direct access to Paulista Avenue and downtown São Paulo, in addition to integrating the route with several other lines in the system.
In this case, the greatest benefit for residents of the region will be the transformation of slow, congested trips into a shorter, more efficientroute.
Although it is an independent state project, Line 17-Gold is also geographically linked to the projects on Hebe Camargo Avenue and the future monorail.
The state plan calls for four new stations :
- Panamby
- Paraisópolis
- Américo Maurano
- Vila Paulista
The entire announced extension will add 4.6 km to Line 17 (Gold).
The Américo Maurano station will play a key role in connecting to Nova Paraisópolis, as the second segment of the new route—approximately 700 meters long—was designed to house the future station.
With a reserved area approximately 45 meters wide and a 16-meter access lane, the city aims to design the avenue without encroaching on the lane reserved for the monorail, which is planned to be 3.2 meters wide .
Furthermore, the new road system will feature dedicated spaces for different modes of transportation: exclusive lanes for buses and general traffic, designated areas for motorcycles, bike lanes, and sidewalks for pedestrians.
What stage is the Nova Paraisópolis project in?

The Nova Paraisópolis program is still in the bidding phase. As for the Line 17 extension, construction has not yet begun, and the city is still reviewing the basic design proposals it has received.
Overall, monorail expansion work is expected to begin in 2029 and be completed in 2032.
