Some say that Pinheiros is one of the best neighborhoods to help those who “suffer from chronic boredom”. That’s because the area offers hundreds of different programs, including an antiques fair, several trendy restaurants, bars to enjoy at night and a cultural center. That’s why we’ve put together eight programs for those who want to discover what to do in Pinheiros.
What to do in Pinheiros
Market at Benedito Calixto
Every Saturday, the neighborhood hosts the traditional Benedito Calixto Arts, Culture and Leisure Fair. Here, several dealers display rarities such as antique furniture and utensils, as well as vinyls and coins worthy of collecting.

Bars and restaurants in Rua dos Pinheiros
The neighborhood’s hotspot for those who like to enjoy the nightlife or eat very well is Rua dos Pinheiros. It’s easy to find a variety of culinary establishments, burger bars, ice-cream parl ors and places to have a juice, açaí or fruit cream. Later in the evening, the various bars along the road catch fire.
Pinheiros Municipal Market
A complete neighborhood deserves its own market, right? The Pinheiros Municipal Market has 39 stalls catering for the most diverse consumer demands: from grocery stores and greengrocers to fishmongers, poultry producers, butchers and florists. There is also a beer emporium and a pizzeria to visit at lunchtime.
Where: Rua Pedro Cristi, 89 – Pinheiros
Tomie Ohtake Institute
Inaugurated in 2001, the Tomie Ohtake Institute was created to showcase national and international exhibitions of fine arts, architecture and design in a huge building designed by the son of the artist after whom the institute is named. Take a look at programming.
Where: Rua Coropés, 88 – Pinheiros
Ballerina Staircase
Once an unattractive staircase, this staircase on Alves Guimarães has been revitalized by none other than Eduardo Kobra, a Brazilian artist known internationally for his unique graffiti style.
Where: Rua Alves Guimarães, 754 – Pinheiros
Arturito
The charming neighborhood on the west side has a huge variety of restaurants, including some very famous ones. One of them is Arturito, which became a sensation when its owner, Argentine chef Paola Carosella, became one of the judges on MasterChef Brazil. With its modern, simple and tasty dishes, the restaurant appears on many lists of the best culinary establishments in São Paulo.
Where: Rua Artur de Azevedo, 542 – Pinheiros
Cinesala
Founded in 1959 as ‘Cine Flametta’, Cinesala is one of the street cinemas that we still have in São Paulo. It is one of the most traditional in the capital, showing many films that break away from the hegemonic logic of Hollywood.
The great thing about the cine, however, is the seating. Instead of ordinary seats, there you can watch your favorite movie in a super-comfortable armchair, as if you were in your own home.
Where: R. Fradique Coutinho, 361 – Pinheiros
Largo da Batata
Another option for what to do in Pinheiros is to visit Largo da Batata, a square right in the center of the neighborhood. It is embedded in the middle of the capital’s tall buildings, and around it there are many bars and restaurants, as well as plenty of shops.
You can get there by Metro Line 4-Yellow getting off at Faria Lima Station.
