Now in its second year, the Pizza Festival at the Immigration Museum will take place this weekend and marks the conclusion of the SP8 Pizza contest, in which the city’s best pizzas and pizzerias compete against one another. With a packed outdoor program , the museum’s garden becomes a true little piece of Italy.
In addition to the contest’s closing ceremony, the event celebrates Pizza Day, observed nationwide on July 10.
Held at the former Immigrant Hostel, the celebration also serves as a learning experience about the Italian influence in São Paulo. In other words, beyond the cuisine, the festival has a strong cultural and educational focus.

Cuisine is the festival’s main draw, but the real stars are the finalist pizzas from SP8 Pizza. With their own categories in the awards, the classic flavors of calabresa, portuguesa, and margherita are the highlights of the menu.
Exhibitors who stood out in past editions, such as Galpãozin and Beco di Napoli, are confirmed to attend, along with bars and bakeries that have already won awards in other industry rankings . The menu alsoincludes desserts and beverages, featuring selected cocktails and wines.
There are also dishes featuring original recipes that venture into blending typically Brazilian and Italian ingredients.
Other highlights of the event
While enjoying the pizza festival, the public can attend the awards ceremony, during which the “Best Pizza” and the “Best Pizzeria in São Paulo” will be chosen by popular vote .
The festival offers masterclasses on “ingredients and pizza-making processes,” providing hands-on demonstrations ranging from dough preparation to pairing. At the same time, the program features workshops tied to the museum’ssummer activities, aimed primarily at children.
The event even features a children’s area with toys and games from different countries and eras, supervised by staff. To round out the atmosphere, there will be live music performances featuring MPB and a varied repertoire.
