Jundiaí is known for the “Festa da Uva” (Grape Festival), one of the largest events of its kind in Latin America. However, this city in the interior of São Paulo also stands out for the Festa Italiana de Jundiaí( ), a celebration that brings together faith, culture, and cuisine to honor the memory of the immigrants who settled in the region.
In 2026, the event will reach its 38th edition from May 23 to June 14 at Praça José Orlandi. Featuring stalls offering Italian delicacies, musical performances, and the traditional Mediterranean hospitality, just 60 kilometers from the capital of São Paulo.

Festival celebrates Italian immigration in the interior of São Paulo
The Mediterranean influence in the region began in 1887 with the arrival of the first Italian immigrants to the Barão de Jundiaí settlement. Over time, new settlers established themselves there, forever changing the course of the city.
Their expertise in viticulture transformed Jundiaí into the “Land of Grapes, ” a powerhouse in Brazilian wine production. Furthermore, it is estimated that over 50% of Jundiaí’s population is of direct Italian descent.
This strong connection led the local community to create the festival in 1988 to celebrate the centennial of immigration. Conceived by leaders such as Alfredo Paoletti and Father Giuseppe Bortolato, the event began as a fair featuring traditional delicacies.
However, over the course of four decades, the festival organized by the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish has established itself as one of the city’s main cultural events, supported by hundreds of volunteers who preserve family recipes and traditional preparation methods.
