If there’s one thing that unites São Paulo residents, it’s their passion for pizza. And now this love has turned into an award: SP8 Pizza, the first of its kind in Brazil, has been born.
Inspired by the success of Padocaria-SP, the new gastronomic contest has just announced the 8 best pizzerias in the city, including highlights by region, by flavor and even in the delivery format. Find out below who was this year’s grand champion.

From tradition to the new: the diversity of São Paulo pizza in the spotlight
With more than 4,500 pizzerias spread across São Paulo and around 570,000 pizzas baked every day, the city is one of the biggest pizza hubs in the world – second only to New York in terms of the number of specialized houses.
That’s why journalist Miguel Icassatti and chef Eduardo Maya decided to create SP8 Pizza, rewarding the pizzerias that really win the hearts (and palates) of São Paulo residents.
Among the styles included are:
- Neapolitan, such as Fornetto’s (Belém);
- New York style, such as Fôrno (Vila Buarque);
- Classic São Paulo restaurants, such as Pizza & Pizzas (Água Fria) and Castelões (Brás).
The list also highlighted authorial proposals, such as Mercutio, which calls its rounds “romantic pizzas”, and Galpãozin, influenced by French cuisine. Another highlight was Oli Pizzas Artesanais, with a 100% female team led by chef Olivia Maita.
