If you’ve been dreaming of visiting the Trevi Fountain, you might want to revise your plans: São Paulo has its own version of the wishing fountain, and it has just been reactivated. Inaugurated in 1922, the Glory, Order and Progress Fountain is located in Praça Ramos de Azevedo and brings a bit of Italy to the center of the capital with its classical, century-old architecture.
Despite its monumental beauty, the fountain remained forgotten for many years, with signs of abandonment and vandalism. But now, with the revitalization of the Anhangabaú Valley, it promises to return to the São Paulo scene as a space for celebration and conviviality, and a stage for artistic and cultural events.

The Wishing Fountain was a gift from the Italian community to SP
Also known as the Fountain of Wishes , the Glory, Order and Progress Fountain was a gift from the Italian community to São Paulo, in celebration of the centenary of Brazil’s Independence. The monument was designed by the Italian sculptor Luigi Brizzolara, who was also inspired by the Trevi Fountain to create the imposing bronze and marble sculptures.
For a long time, the fountain was a symbol of downtown São Paulo, hosting authorities and cultural events. Over the years, however, acts of vandalism and neglect on the part of the public authorities have left the postcard worn out. Fortunately, in 2017, the Fountain of Wishes underwent a revitalization that restored its original architecture. And now, a new restoration is making the fountain spout water again!

In the swing of the New Anhangabaú
The redevelopment of the Anhangabaú Valley, through the Novo Anhangabaú project, has brought a wave of transformations to the center of São Paulo. Several historic monuments, such as the Fountain of Wishes, have been given a new lease of life with restoration work and improved accessibility and security.
Another highlight of this movement is the Galeria Formosa, which, after a major renovation, has become a São Paulo nightspot. The underground gallery now houses Formosa Hi-Fi, a bar with high-fidelity music that has already become a favorite with the public. With attractions like this, visiting Fonte dos Desejos is even easier – confirming a new cultural phase in the center of São Paulo.
