Located on the border between São Paulo and Minas Gerais, Pousada Casa Campestre was the only inn in Brazil to be voted “Best Inn in the World” by TripAdvisor. The 26,000-square-meter property is located in the Serra da Mantiqueira region and is surrounded by lush greenery as it is located within an environmentally protected area.
Built from scratch by owners Jefferson and Alessandra, the inn has a romantic history that began before it even existed. The couple dreamed of living in the countryside and owning an inn. They visited Gonçalves during Carnival in 2003 and chose this charming city to make their dream come true.
Years later, the dream became the perfect travel destination for couples due to its intimate atmosphere and mild weather, far from the chaos of the city. The inn offers three options for chalets, which only accept guests of legal age. Each accommodation is independent, where privacy and comfort are a priority, in addition to providing personalized service.

Outings in the surrounding area

With such a large area of forest near the inn, the best options for those who want to go out and explore are the trails, waterfalls, mountains, and viewpoints. Pedra Chanfrada, for example, is a great option, offering a hike, as well as rewarding visitors with a panoramic view of the mountains and a breathtaking sunset.
The region has nearby waterfalls such as Cachoeirado Poção and Cachoeira do Simão. There are also other waterfalls in the surrounding area, which are accessible by short trails. They are known for their cold waters and breathtaking views.
Leaving nature behind for a while, a trip to the city center is also a good option. Gonçalves has restaurants serving typical Minas Gerais cuisine, craft shops, and cafes that complement a trip for two.
