Minas em Cena: Sesc-SP promotes tour of Minas Gerais cities
Belo Horizonte
The first stop on the tour is Belo Horizonte. Known as the “Garden City”, the capital of Minas Gerais offers a mix of history, culture and top gastronomy. The Sesc itinerary will take you past iconic spots such as the Central Market, the perfect place to buy souvenirs, try Minas Gerais cheeses and other typical flavors. As well as the Pampulha Lagoon, which has an architectural ensemble designed by Oscar Niemeyer, and the Praça da Liberdade, a cultural and leisure reference for Belo Horizonte residents.
Brumadinho
The city is in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, and will be another stop on the tour to Minas Gerais. During the stop, travelers will visit the Inhotim Institute, the largest open-air museum in Latin America. The place brings together contemporary art and nature, with almost 2,000 works of art and more than 4,000 species of plants from all continents.
Catas Altas
The next stop is Catas Altas, a town in the Cerrado Mineiro that is home to the Caraça Sanctuary. Built over 250 years ago, it combines spirituality and nature in the heart of the Serra do Caraça. There you’ll find waterfalls, trails and caves, as well as the chance to meet cute guarás wolves up close.
Cordisburgo
Finally, the Sesc tour of Minas Gerais also visits Cordisburgo, the birthplace of Guimarães Rosa. As well as preserving the writer’s memory, the city is home to the impressive Maquiné Cave, one of the largest in Minas Gerais. At 1,312 meters long, it has seven halls that surprise with the grandeur and beauty of the rock formations.
