A Line 4-Yellow voted by our readers as the best in São Paulo, will get even longer! This is because the São Paulo government announced this week the expansion of the Yellow Line, which will reach Taboão da Serra. With an investment of R$3.4 billion, the project will connect the city in the metropolitan region to the center of the São Paulo capital in less than half an hour.
According to Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), the novelty will benefit approximately 110,000 passengers a day. In addition, it will ease traffic in Greater São Paulo, as it will offer a new means of transportation for the population.
What will the new stations be?
The Yellow Line is expected to receive two new stations. The first will be Chácara do Jockey, between Professor Francisco Morato and Monsenhor Manfredo Leite avenues, in Vila Sônia.
And then Taboão da Serra, which will be on the Régis Bittencourt highway, on the former site of the Sorana Sul concessionaire. There will be 3.3 new kilometers of line, which in the end will total 16.1 kilometers to Luz Station.
Currently, to get from Taboão da Serra to Luz, you have to take a bus to São Paulo-Morumbi station, a journey that can take up to an hour and a half. With the expansion, the same stretch can be covered in just 26 minutes.
When will the Yellow Line expansion be ready?
The expansion will be carried out by ViaQuatro, the concessionaire that operates the Yellow Line. Work began this Monday, the 7th, in Taboão da Serra, and was attended by the governor.
The works are expected to last at least three years. In other words, we will be able to use the new Yellow Line stations from 2028.
