Now in its 6th edition, the National Agrarian Reform Fair takes place May 14–17 at Água BrancaPark in São Paulo. The event, organized by the MST, is already part of the city’s cultural calendar and brings together food producers, debates, and plenty of culinary delights.
The initiative aims to introduce anyone interested to the Popular Agrarian Reform project. It promotes agroecology and the connection between culture, food, and politics.
The first fair took place in 2015, also at Água Branca Park. The event brought together more than 800 rural producers from all over Brazil, selling products directly to the end consumer. The purpose has always been the same: to oppose agribusiness, which remains dependent on pesticides.
In its second edition, in 2017, the fair established itself in São Paulo. There were 280 tons of food and 800 vendors from 23 Brazilian states. Attendance reached approximately 170,000 visitors. Since then, the event has become an annual fixture and a gathering place for those interested in the subject or simply looking to consume organic products.
Discussions and seminars at the fair

Beyond its commercial aspect, the fair also serves asa “politicaltool.” At every edition, it is common to find separate spaces for constructive debates. Topics include agroecology, climate change, the role of women in agriculture, food sovereignty, and much more.
The MST also participates in this stage, bringing leaders and researchers to take part in the discussions. In addition, it is common to see political leaders and representatives of social movements in attendance. After all, the topics discussed are of collective interest.
