This weekend marks the final days of the traditional Cunha Winter Festival. Also known as the Acordes da Serra Festival, this event in the interior of São Paulo is in its 31st edition and showcases the best of local culture, with cuisine, music, and crafts to liven up the city this winter.
One of the largest cultural events in the São Paulo highlands, the festival began between 1993 and 1994 but became an annual event over the years. After establishing itself as a regular event, it now welcomes thousands of visitors at each edition.
In fact, in 2018, Cunha welcomed as many as 70,000 people to that year’s edition. This number is impressive because it exceeds Cunha’s population. It also underscores the festival’s impact on the local economy, particularly retail and the hotel industry.
What can you expect from the Cunha Winter Festival?
The program is diverse and features outdoor concerts , exhibitions, theater, cultural performances, and folk events. The festival guarantees attractions for all audiences and broad access to culture.
Reinforcing the idea of appealing to diverse audiences, this year’s edition features sertanejo concerts with Thaeme and Thiago, samba with the group Originais do Samba, forró pé de serra, rock with the band Bohemian Rock reviving Queen classics, and MPB.
On stage, usually on weekends, local artists perform alongside guest acts such as choirs, congadas, and instrumental performances.
While enjoying the music, visitors can savor the local cuisine, which is one of the festival’s biggest draws. Featuring the best of Cunha’s culinary traditions, the dishes incorporate typical regional ingredients such as pine nuts, trout, shiitake mushrooms, and lamb.
In the food court, visitors can also explore the local crafts fair. In 2026, the big news is that the public will be able to visit the ceramics studios, featuring exhibitions related to the famous Cunha International Ceramics Festival.
