Did you know that Cunha, located about 220 kilometers from the capital, is the largest producer of pine nuts in the state of São Paulo? In honor of this nut, the city celebrates the traditional 2026 Pine Nut Festival in April, featuring cultural and culinary attractions that reveal the essence of São Paulo’s rural culture.
The 23rd edition of the festival will take place from April 11 to May 4 at Praça da Matriz, in the city center. In addition to sampling exclusive recipes featuring pine nuts, you can take advantage of the festival to discover the charms of Cunha, popularly known as the city of ceramics and laundries.

Cunha Pine Nut Festival: check out the 2026 attractions
The araucaria seed (better known as the pine nut) is a typical ingredient of the Mantiqueira Mountains, especially in the fall and winter. In addition to Cunha, cities such as Campos do Jordão and Santo Antônio do Pinhal also hold celebrations in honor of the nut.
During the celebration, the public will be able to sample unique dishes. Although the culinary options for 2026 are not yet available, previous editions featured:
- Soups and broths;
- Lasagnas and gourmet savory snacks;
- Cakes, artisanal sweets, and desserts;
- Pine nutbeer (a seasonal specialty of the Mantiqueira Mountains!)
In addition to the cuisine, the program features a variety of free cultural activities. The festival celebrates regional culture with performances by guitarists and country artists, such as Enok Virgulino, Marcelo Viola & Ricardo, Gustavo, and Matteo, among others.
The highlight of this edition, however, will be an exclusive exhibition on the Brazilian pine. On display at Serra do Mar National Park (Cunha Center), the exhibition reveals the importance of the araucaria to the region’s history, economy, and conservation.
