A little piece of the Atlantic Forest in the heart of the Morumbi region, with more than 142,000 square meters of native vegetation. We’re talking about Alfredo Volpi Park, one of the treasures we find in the West Zone of the capital! Opened in 1966, it offers a breath of nature in the middle of the “stone jungle”, with leisure options for the whole family.
Despite its beauty and importance, the park is little known by the population and is one of the “hidden corners” that we love so much here at São Paulo Secreto. So if you want to spend a day in the middle of nature, but don’t want to visit the more “lively” parks, you’ve come to the right place. Discover its attractions below!
Alfredo Volpi Park: discover this little piece of nature in the South Zone
Until the 19th century, there was a large tea estate on the site of the current park. The site was donated to the city council in 1949, and in the 1970s Alfredo Volpi opened its doors under the name ‘Bosque do Morumbi’.
Today, the park has become a natural refuge in one of the capital’s noblest neighborhoods. By exploring its remnants of the Atlantic Forest, visitors can get to know various native species of plants and animals, including the super friendly sloths that live there.
The site has picnic areas, a playground, exercise equipment and trails up to 1 kilometer long. In other words, it’s the perfect place to go for a walk, have a quiet picnic with friends or even do some “ecotourism” without leaving São Paulo.
It also frequently hosts free cultural and entertainment activities. Such as book fairs, yoga or meditation classes, workshops for children and more. To check out the week’s program, keep an eye on this (unofficial) profile of the park.
How do I get to know it?
Alfredo Volpi Park is located at Rua Engenheiro Oscar Americano, 480, less than a kilometer from Marginal Pinheiros. It is open daily from 6am to 6pm, with free admission and access for people with reduced mobility. Bicycles are not allowed in the park, but dogs are welcome on a leash.
The nearest metro station is Butantã, on Line 4-Yellow, about a 20-minute walk away. Visitors can also take advantage of free parking on site.
