Augusta Park: once an elite school and even a parking lot
Bruno Covas Park, better known as Augusta Park, was inaugurated in 2021. Its history is full of twists and turns: at the beginning of the 20th century, its land was first home to a residential mansion which, after a few years, housed the prestigious College Des Oiseaux.
The mansion was demolished and became a parking lot. And then, after years of legal disputes and intermittent construction work, the land was finally transformed into a park for the population.
Today, the park is a great option for those who want to get in touch with nature in the heart of the city center. As well as tree-lined trails, the space has a large lawn, affectionately called “prainha”. There is also a playground for children, a hammock for resting and a dog run that promises to make pets happy.
How do I get there?
The park’s main entrances are at Rua Augusta, 344, and Rua Caio Prado, 230/232 (the latter is recommended for people with reduced mobility or baby carriages). The site is available to visit every day from 5am to 9pm.
The nearest metro station is Higienópolis-Mackenzie, on Line 4-Yellow. Admission is free.
