The 6th Cunha Cheese Festival takes place in early September, and here we’ll tell you everything you need to know! This year, the largest cheese festival in the countryside will be held at Lavapés Park, where you can enjoy cultural attractions and a food court filled with the star of the show: cheese!
Organized by the City of Cunha, the festival serves as a showcase for the region’s rural producers. It also helps strengthen culinary tourism and the city’s economy.
In 2026, the festival also aims to promote new entrepreneurs and encourage younger people to stay in rural businesses. In fact, the certification ceremony for the 2nd Cheese-Making Training Program will be part of the festival’s lineup.
During the event, visitors are invited to step into the “world of cheese.” More than just tasting delicious dishes, the experience allows you to connect with local agriculture and signature cuisine, as well as learn more about the localculture.
The Cuisine of the Cunha Cheese Festival
Overall, Cunha is known for its dairy tradition —including milk from cows, goats, buffalo, and sheep—and for its cheese production. As a result, last year’s festival attracted more than 7,000 visitors and 36 exhibitors showcasing cheeses and regional products.
This year, the celebration features around 45 exhibitors offering a variety of artisanal cheeses from the largest producers in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, including producers from Cunha.
At the festival, visitors will have the chance to meet other local producers of beer, honey, cured meats, olive oil, and wine. They’ll also have access to complementary products, such as yogurt, butter, jams, cachaça, and seafood.
What can you expect from the event?
Far beyond the food area, the festival also offers educational and tasting activities, as well as pairings of cheese with wine, olive oil, and craft beer.
During the event, you’ll also be able to watch a burrata-making demonstration led by Chef Fábio Zonno of Fiori d’Italia.
And don’t miss the Cooking Show, themed “Cheese in the Kitchen, ” which features recipes by Chef Célia from Kallas da Serra. There will also be a class with Chef João Vieira, who will use Cunha cheeses in dishes prepared live.
At the same time, there will be concerts featuring MPB, jazz, viola, blues, and rock, as well as instrumental music performances and DJ sets. The venue will also feature Instagram-worthy spots, social areas, and guided tasting activities for children and young people.

With free admission, the 6th edition of the Cunha Cheese Festival takes place September 5–7. On September 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on September 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The venue is Lavapés Park, located in Vila Rica, in the central region of Cunha.
