This weekend, São Paulo’s North Zone welcomes a new high-performance center with free activities for the public. After more than two years of construction, the former Thomaz Mazzoni Sports Center ( ) is reborn as the Vila Maria Olympic Center, offering improved quality of life and infrastructure for residents of the region.
The official opening will be this Saturday, the 28th, starting at 7 a.m., with free admission foreveryone. Why not bring the family to check out the new facilities up close?

Since 2021, the Olympic Network program has sought to decentralize access to high-performance sports in the capital of São Paulo. Currently, the project offers training in various sports, such as soccer, canoeing, artistic gymnastics, and boxing at various locations throughout the city . Classes are free, and the top-performing students have the chance to turn their passion into a career.
The renovation of the Vila Maria Sports Center, announced in 2022, involved an investment of R$ 65 million. The project restored the original gymnasium and soccer field, in addition to installing modern equipment.
At the site, it will be possible to practice more than 15 sports. Among the available spaces, highlights include the multi-sport gymnasium, badminton and beach tennis courts, areas for martial arts, skate parks, and swimming pools, one of which is heated.
How about pursuing a career as an athlete?
Even before the official opening, demand for activities in the North Zone is already impressive: more than 11,000 people have signed up for the activities offered, including young talents and adults seeking health and well-being.
It’s worth noting that the Olympic Network program doesn’t stop here. In addition to the new facility in Vila Maria, the project is present at the Cambuci, Guarapiranga, Curuçá, Pirituba, and CERET Sports Centers.
