The Sesc units in the capital are buzzing with different languages and themes for all tastes and ages. In addition, the Sesc SP exhibitions are always free, so there’s no excuse not to visit.
To help you choose your favorite, we’ve selected some of the Sesc SP Exhibitions currently on show at the institution.
‘New Power: Passability’, Sesc Paulista
The exhibition brings together more than fifty portraits by Maxwell Alexandre. In them, the artist represents black people occupying spaces that are traditionally not very welcoming to them, such as art galleries.
📅 Until September 29th
📍 Avenida Paulista, 119 – Bela Vista
‘A Defect of Color’, Sesc Pinheiros
The exhibition is based on the book ‘Um Defeito de Cor’ by Ana Maria Gonçalves. In this way, the works illustrate the trajectory of the protagonist Kehinde, an African woman enslaved in Brazil, and her struggle to be free.
📅 Until December 1st
📍Rua Pais Leme, 195 – Pinheiros
‘Almost Circus – Carmela Gross’, Sesc Pompeia
Exhibition dedicated to the artist Carmela Gross, who works mainly with large-scale works in the middle of the city. So get ready to see great works such as illuminated panels and other audiovisual expressions, which will dialog with the industrial architecture of Sesc Pompeia.
📅 Until August 25th
📍Rua Clélia, 93 – Água Branca
the School Tree’, Sesc Santana
A friendly jatobá is the protagonist of this exhibition, which aims to rethink the concept we have of “school”. Suspended in the center of the exhibition, the tree (which for years has been considered magical by native peoples) also becomes the center for discussions and the exchange of knowledge.
📅 Until November 3rd
📍Avenida Luiz Dumont Villares, 579 – Santana
