São Paulo prepares for dark Halloween nights with this chilling concert

There are songs that seem to conjure up other dimensions. Just listen to the first few chords and you feel like you’re in a dimly lit corridor, with doors that creak on their own and a strange sensation in the back of your head. This is exactly what happens with Tubular Bells, immortalized by “The Exorcist“, or Michael Jackson’s “Thriller“, which transforms the show with its unmistakable beat and whispering voices.

And how can we not mention “The Addams Family“, with its iconic finger snaps and that macabre charm, which is almost amusing if it weren’t sinister. You may know them all, but when these tracks come to life through a string quartet surrounded by a sea of flickering candles, everything becomes even more palpable.

The notes become full-bodied, the tension intensifies and, for a moment, it seems as if ghosts really are around… an atmosphere that sends shivers down the spine of even those who don’t believe in hauntings.

For 60 minutes, the MASP auditorium is filled with trick-or-treaters, where

guests are immersed in a magical and subtly spooky setting, under the glow of thousands of candles that create an almost supernatural aura, for you to enjoy the most horrifying night of the year.

A string quartet intensifies the evening with chilling interpretations such as Charles Gounod’s “Funeral March of a Marionette” and dark works such as Shostakovich’s “String Quartet No. 8“, as well as tracks that have marked the Halloween imagination, such as Beetlejuice and the medley from “Jack’s Strange World“. Only the bravest will make it through the night.
