There are places in São Paulo that impress you even before you take your first sip. Bar dos Arcos, tucked away beneath the historic arches of the Municipal Theater, is one of them. And now the spot has another reason to catch the attention of cocktail and food enthusiasts: the new menu “From the Bars of Latin America. With Love, Arcos, ” which has just debuted.
We were invited to experience it firsthand and left feeling as though we’d taken a mini-trip through Latin America without ever leaving downtown São Paulo.

A Latin American journey served up in drinks and dishes
The new season is creatively directed by the award-winning Chula Barmaid and chef Gabriela Monteiro. The goal isn’t to literally reproduce traditional recipes, but to transform travel memories, bar-counter flavors, and cultural references into original interpretations.
The result is a menu that takes you through Cuba, Mexico, Bolivia, Uruguay, Colombia, and Brazil. But always with that sophisticated and slightly mysterious touch that’s already a trademark of Bar dos Arcos.

What we tasted
During the tasting, we started with the Cruda & Totopos (R$ 59). This Mexican appetizer combines raw Angus beef, chipotle mayonnaise, pineapple pickles, and a crispy tortilla in a perfect balance of acidity, spiciness, and texture. Another highlight was the Crab Croquette (R$ 42). Inspired by Pernambuco, it’s crispy on the outside, extremely creamy on the inside, and served with a chili and cilantro salsa.
Among the main dishes, the Medianoche (R$ 77) stole the show with pulled pork, artisanal ham, Mogiana cheese, mustard, and pickles on toasted brioche. A generous, comforting sandwich—perfect for a long night in the basement of the Municipal Theater.
The drinks took center stage just as much as the food. The “Restaurante Leite” (R$ 43) revives the memory of the classic “Caju Amigo” with caramelized cashews, cachaça, aged rum, and clarified citrus. Meanwhile, the “Café Palhares” (R$ 55) delivers an intense combination of whiskeys, dulce de leche, and puxuri—almost like a liquid dessert. The refreshing La Guarida (R$ 49), with tequila, tamarind, and hibiscus tea, contrasts with the creative Las Cholitas (R$ 39), which blends cachaça with roasted peanuts, chicha morada, and clarified corn syrup.
Finally, the Piña Colada dessert (R$ 39) transforms the Caribbean cocktail into spoonfuls of sago with coconut, pineapple jam, and crunchy crumble, accompanied by a surprisingly light tropical mocktail.

Is it worth it?
Bar dos Arcos’ new menu delivers exactly what it promises: it’s not a tourist-oriented culinary tour, but a collection of Latin American memories reinterpreted by a team that understands both flavor and storytelling.
The experience is made even more special by the setting. Dining and drinking beneath the historic arches of the Municipal Theater makes each dish feel like part of a larger story.
In other words, for those who enjoy bars with character—the kind where the atmosphere matters just as much as what’s served at the table—the new “From the Bars of Latin America. With Love, Arcos.” is one of the most interesting culinary launches in downtown São Paulo this semester.
So, our tip is simple: take your time and journey through a Latin America made up of bars, conversations, and flavors.
