Sítio Morrinhos is set to become a park! Closed to visitors since 2024, the site that houses one of the city’s oldest buildings finally has the prospect of welcoming the public again. The news is a victory for the North Zone, which will gain yet another recreational area for the public.
The goal of the project is to combine environmental conservation with architectural preservation. After all, the Bandeirista headquarters, built of rammed earth, has stood since 1702. As a result, the city will gain a park that protects the collection of the São Paulo City Museum and celebrates nature.

What to expect from the new Sítio Morrinhos Park
The complex will occupy approximately 35,600 square meters between Santo Anselmo Street and Braz Leme Avenue, in Jardim São Bento. In addition to the architectural complex, it will encompass the surrounding green space and feature new recreational facilities.
The proposal calls for the installation of trails through the woods, a beach tennis court, and a playground. In addition, the renovation will revitalize the existing soccer fields and the old nursery, which is currently inactive.

After all, when will the park open its doors?
Authorization for the park’s creation was granted in 2012, but the city government has postponed its implementation several times since then. Now, in March 2026, the renovation has finally received official approval to begin. With an estimated investment of R$ 12.45 million, the project will be carried out by Apeng Serviços e Construções Ltda., the winning bidder.
Although there is still no date set for the inauguration, we know that the revitalization of Sítio Morrinhos Park will finally move beyond the drawing board. The expectation is that, soon, São Paulo residents will be able to enjoy the wonders of this historical and ecological treasure in the North Zone.
