After six years, the city of São Paulo will once again host the MICHELIN Guide ceremony, one of the most prestigious in the world. The awards, which until then took place in Rio de Janeiro, will land in the capital on May 12, bringing together some of the best chefs and food critics in a luxurious hotel in the downtown area.
The choice reflects São Paulo’s importance in national gastronomy. With more than 150,000 bars and restaurants, the city plays a leading role in the haute cuisine scene, including having the largest number of restaurants recognized by the MICHELIN Guide in the country.
São Paulo hosts MICHELIN Guide ceremony
In 2025, the MICHELIN Guide awards ceremony will take place at the prestigious Rosewood São Paulo, twice voted the best hotel in South America. The event will be attended by all the chefs from the restaurants recommended by the new selection, from restaurants in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
According to Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the MICHELIN Guide, the choice to hold the ceremony in São Paulo is due to the diversity and richness of the local gastronomic scene, which is recognized worldwide. We’re proud!
Watch the ceremony live!
The MICHELIN Guide is a global reference in restaurant evaluation, based on five criteria. They are: quality of products, harmony of flavors, mastery of culinary techniques, personality of the chef and consistency over time. For the time being, in Brazil, the guide only evaluates restaurants in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, but may expand to other cities in the future.
Good news for food lovers: the ceremony will be broadcast live on YouTube, on the MICHELIN Guide channel. But if you can’t follow along, no problem. After all, the selection of the 2025 winners will be available shortly after the ceremony on the Guide’s website, allowing Brazilians to get to know some of the best restaurants in the country.
