The oldest nightclub in São Paulo is in Bixiga and has been a stronghold of São Paulo’s alternative culture for over 40 years. It’s the Madame Underground Club, which has resisted the changes in the São Paulo scene since 1983 and is still a symbol of resistance and of the underground public.
After a period of temporary closure, the venue was reborn and won back audiences with its dark aura and striking musical identity. Today, it is a reference for those looking for unusual experiences in São Paulo’s nightlife and the perfect setting to celebrate Halloween, with its reddish lights and intense electronic soundtrack.

Madame’s legacy in São Paulo nightlife
Madame was born in 1983 as a meeting point for the city’s punk, goth and art scene. In the early years, it hosted performances by names that would become big names in Brazilian music, such as Titãs, RPM, Ira! and Legião Urbana.
Located in a listed mansion on Rua Conselheiro Ramalho, Madame attracted a loyal following and survived the city’s cultural changes. Even after closing in 2009, it returned in 2012 with full force, securing its title as the oldest nightclub still in business in São Paulo.
