Some libraries in São Paulo are so magnificent that, as well as housing classic works of literature, they are also true architectural works of art. The library at the Casa Museu Ema Klabin is one of these treasures, and is considered one of the most beautiful in São Paulo.
The space is inspired by European elements to create a unique atmosphere where visitors can immerse themselves in centuries of history through reading. Visiting the Ema Klabin library means living a complete experience of culture, memory and architecture.

Charm and coziness: discover the library of the Ema Klabin House Museum
Ema Klabin was an enthusiast of music, literature and other artistic manifestations. That’s why she decided to build an intimate and cozy room in her home, where she could celebrate her passions and receive close friends.
The result was a charming circular library, inspired by King Frederick II’s private library in Sanssouci Palace, Germany. The ivory bookcases follow the design of the Nissim de Camondo Museum collection in Paris.

Collection holds rare books, manuscripts and other relics
For about 50 years, from the 1940s until her death in 1994, Ema Klabin collected more than 3,500 books, which today make up the collection of her library. The space houses collections on the history of Brazil, letters, manuscripts and rare editions, including engravings from the 15th century.
However, the library is just one of the attractions at the Casa Museu Ema Klabin, one of São Paulo’s of São Paulo’s most important cultural centers. The former residence not only houses books, but also 13th-century sculptures, centuries-old sacred images and African tapestries. Finally, the gardens designed by Burle Marx add a touch of nature to the tour, which offers an immersion in art, history and beauty.
The Ema Klabin House Museum is located at Rua Portugal, 43, in Jardim Europa. Free visits are possible from Wednesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (stay until 6 p. m. ), with the possibility of mediated visits on specific days.
