The prestigious L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele has just opened a branch in São Paulo! The century-old establishment now has a permanent location in Pinheiros, offering us the opportunity to experience the best of Italian cuisine without leaving the city.
Originally from Naples, the pizzeria was founded in 1870 by Michele Condurro and has become one of the most traditional in Italy. Its international fame, however, came in 2010 with the film Eat, Pray, Love.
In one of the scenes, Julia Roberts’ character visits the Neapolitan pizzeria and falls in love with its century-old flavor— a passion that, since then, has been echoed by thousands off-screen.
L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele is now open in São Paulo
The restaurant opened this Monday, the 23rd, as a soft opening. This means the establishment is operating on a trial basis, fine-tuning processes and logistics. However, the doors are already open to the public who wish to check out the new offerings.
The original menu at L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Naples is simple, featuring just three flavors: margherita, marinara (tomato and garlic), and cosacca (tomato and pecorino cheese), plus a “half-and-half” option. There, the pizzas are individual and cost 6 euros (about R$ 40).
In São Paulo, the menu is more extensive. In addition to traditional Italian pizzas, there are also options featuring buffalo mozzarella, mushrooms, and anchovies, for example. Prices start at R$ 110, with ingredients imported from Italy to preserve the original flavor.

Reactions and customer reviews
On its Instagram profile, the pizzeria introduced itself with a video in collaboration with Comunità Italiana Magazine, the leading publication of the Italian community in Brazil. The launch sparked debate: while some question the price difference compared to the original location, others point out that import taxes and operating costs explain the price in Brazil.
On Google, the pizzeria already has reviews that maintain a high average rating. Check out some reviews from people who have been there:
