On Monday the 8th, the city of Naples, Italy, hosted the eagerly awaited 50 Top Pizza awards, an international ranking of the 100 best pizzerias on the planet. And Brazil shone like never before: for the first time, a pizzeria from São Paulo took 3rd place in the global ranking: Leggera Pizza Napoletana.
In addition, four other São Paulo restaurants made the list, reinforcing the city’s position not only as the second largest consumer of pizza on the planet, but also as home to one of the three best pizzerias in the world. A feat that definitely puts the city on the international gastronomy map.

São Paulo pizzerias among the best in the world
The award, considered the “Oscars of Pizza”, evaluated hundreds of establishments on all continents and singled out six Brazilian ones, five of them from São Paulo.
And the best part: the São Paulo capital also stood out for its variety. While Leggera keeps the Neapolitan tradition alive, QT Pizza Bar (36th) bets on original combinations and has already been recognized with the Pizzaiolo of the Year award. A Pizza da Mooca (36th) has established itself as one of the pioneers of Neapolitan pizza in the city, while Unica Pizzeria (50th) was remembered for its fresh ingredients and balanced dough. Finally, newcomer Veridiana (96th), with its classic atmosphere in Higienópolis, showed that elegance also has a place in the ranking.
Leggera’s achievement is historic! For this reason, the house run by André Guidon was widely praised by the international jury. According to the 50 Top Pizza, the house is faithful to the Neapolitan tradition, long fermentation doughs and selected ingredients, which result in light, balanced pizzas that are recognized as a world reference.

Leggera Pizza Napoletana: pride of São Paulo
Opened in 2013, Leggera Pizza Napoletana is now synonymous with authenticity when it comes to Neapolitan pizza in São Paulo.
After all, their individual pizzas are opened by hand and baked in a wood-fired oven at 450 degrees, resulting in a light, naturally fermented dough produced with a special blend of Italian flours. The tomatoes come from the Mount Vesuvius region in Naples, with a controlled designation of origin. Finally, the whole process follows the Neapolitan technique, recognized as intangible heritage by UNESCO.
On Instagram, the pizzeria celebrated the achievement with emotion:
WE ARE THE 3RD BEST PIZZERIA IN THE WORLD!!! After winning first place among Latin American pizzerias this year, we have now been voted the 3rd best pizzeria in the world, according to @50toppizza. For us, this award is more than just a cup; it ‘s recognition of more than 12 years’ work, in which we study and improve ourselves every day. We select the best flour, the best tomatoes and the best ingredients to create the authentic taste of Napoli in Brazil’s most fervent capital. Today, we are proud to celebrate yet another achievement, which is only possible thanks to those who walk by our side: employees, partners, suppliers and, of course, customers. Grazieeee!!!”
