We have another long weekend coming up: on November 2, All Souls’ Day falls on a Monday, right after the weekend. Find out how public transportation will operate during the long weekend and plan ahead to avoid any hassles.
On Sunday, as part of the “Domingão Tarifa Zero” program, municipal bus rides in the capital will remain free from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. On Monday, SPTrans announced a special operation for cemeteries during the holiday.
How will public transportation operate during the long weekend?
“Domingão Tarifa Zero”

The zero fare applies only to the municipal system managed by SPTrans. Therefore, metro, train, and intercity bus services will continue to charge the standard fare.
Passengers must bring their Bilhete Único card and tap it on the turnstile validator; access will be granted without deducting credits. But those without the card need not worry: the driver or fare collector will manually grant access.
It’s worth noting that the free rides do not apply on Monday, as the rule covers only specific holidays, such as Christmas, New Year’s Day, and São Paulo’s anniversary.
The special operation for All Souls’ Day

With those planning to visit and pay their respects to loved ones on All Souls’ Day in mind, SPTrans is bolstering its fleet with 267 routes mobilized to serve 33 public and private cemeteries in the capital.
This initiative is not new and has been in place for at least 8 years. In 2025, for example, 254 bus routes were designated for this specific service.
