We’ll start this article with some good news and some bad news. The good news is that São Paulo will have five more public holidays until 2026! The bad news is that this year’s calendar doesn’t help, and most of them will fall on Saturdays or Sundays. In other words, if you work a 5×2 schedule, you won’t have many extra days off to enjoy.
October will only have one holiday, the 12th, which celebrates Our Lady of Aparecida. But it falls on a Sunday, so most workers won’t have any changes to their routine. The same goes for the holidays of the Dead and the Proclamation of the Republic, on November 2 and 15 respectively. The former will be on a Sunday, while the latter will fall on a Saturday,
There are still more than three months to go until the end of the year, and the weekends are looking too short. So the best we can do is make the most of the time off we have, in the hope that next year will have a happier calendar. (Spoiler: in 2026, we’ll have plenty of holidays to enjoy!)

How to enjoy the last holidays of 2025 in São Paulo?
It’s still possible to have a holiday
November 20th commemorates Black Consciousness and this year it falls on a Thursday. In other words, those who take the day off will enjoy four days of rest! In this case, you can even plan a trip to the interior of São Paulo, taking advantage of the break away from the hustle and bustle of the capital.
But if you don’t have a day off, don’t worry. From free museums to plays, there’s plenty to do in São Paulo!
If you’re a Potterhead, take the opportunity to check out Harry Potter™: A Grand Tribute Ball, an immersive experience inspired by Hogwarts. There will be themed food, Instagrammable backdrops, Butterbeer and much more!

Christmas also allows for long weekends
Another piece of good news for the team that makes amends: December 25, Christmas Day, will fall on a Thursday. As the 24th is an official holiday from 2pm, it’s possible to stop work on Wednesday afternoon and only return next Monday, the 29th!
In this case, it’s worth checking out the cities in the countryside with special programs in 2025. For example, Holambra, which will host a festival with themed decorations, children’s attractions and even snow showers.
But the city of São Paulo will also have unmissable attractions for all ages. One event that has already been confirmed is Vila de Natal, one of the biggest Christmas festivals in South America.
