The space is a harmonious blend of a coffee shop and a bookstore with a completely Instagram-worthy atmosphere. In addition to the interior of the house, you can also visit the backyard with its well-tended garden . It’s the perfect outing to slow down from the hustle and bustle of daily life and simply take in the surroundings.
Camila, the founder, says that whenever she walked past the property, she was enchanted by the old architecture of the pink house. The initial idea was to create a place that would remind people of afternoons at their grandmother’s house, when chatting while enjoying fried dough balls was our only concern.
The little house came back into the picture when Camila saw the address in Ipiranga listed for rent, and after visiting on Christmas Eve, the property finally became the Casa de Vó we know today.
The nostalgic architecture
In addition to being located on a residential street, which takes away the feeling of being in a commercial establishment, the house has the characteristics of older, cozier buildings. Starting with the windows facing the street and the backyard full of flowers, it reminds us of the place where many of us used to play as children.
Inside, you can spot antique items that have been hunted down and passed down, such as china, old radios, books, vases, and knickknacks. Nothing follows a single style, just like it was at our grandmother’s house. Not to mention the classic crochet scattered across the wooden furniture and the cushions with delicate embroidery.
What to expect from a visit to Casa de Vó?
Opened in May 2026, the space offers a collection of books to buy or simply read on-site and also hosts literary gatherings and embroidery workshops. Additionally, the decor draws attention with its details and nostalgic vibe, making every corner a perfect backdrop for photos.
And, of course, no grandma’s house would be complete without food. The café has a menu full of classic treats like cakes, butter cookies, cheese bread, and bolinhos de chuva. To drink, there are options for tea and hot coffee, hot chocolate, and other beverages.
How to visit?
Just like other cafes and bookstores, admission is free, so you only pay for what you consume. It’s open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The location is at 229 Oliveira Alves Street, in the Ipiranga neighborhood.
Your pet is welcome, but only in the garden area.
