In the heart of Ipiranga there is a space that holds precious memories of São Paulo’s history, but almost nobody knows about it! The Vicente de Azevedo Museum is housed in a building dating from 1896, which was set up to house orphaned girls.
The mansion, which features typical late 19th century architecture, is a real architectural treasure. Among its highlights is the grandiose cast iron gate, considered a rare example of old São Paulo architecture.

Upon entering the museum, visitors have access to a varied collection, which portrays the daily life and customs of São Paulo between the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The collections include period furniture, decorative objects, ornaments, clothing, old toys and much more. You can also see paintings and portraits depicting figures from São Paulo’s history.
Another highlight of this tour is the opportunity to learn about the history of Count José Vicente de Azevedo, a key figure in the development of the Ipiranga neighborhood.
