Residents of the East Zone have certainly heard of Cepam, the region’s favorite bakery. Located on a corner in Vila Prudente, this “padoca” stands out for its vast menu and impressive size, earning the title of São Paulo’s largest bakery.
In fact, some say that Cepam’s grandeur extends beyond the borders of São Paulo, with many considering it the largest bakery in Latin America. Although there is no official recognition of this title, there is good reason for it: the establishment occupies 2,500 square meters, which impresses any visitor!
However, Cepam’s fame is not due solely to its size. The bakery is known as one of the best bakeries in the East Zone and has won the Padocaria contest, proving that it is one of the capital’s favorites.

A group of friends founded the largest bakery in São Paulo
Cepam’s history began in 1968, when four friends decided to open a 60-square-meter bakery in Vila Prudente. The name pays homage to the Professos Américo de Moura State High School, where the founders studied.
Over the years, the business has evolved from being just a bakery to also operating as a pastry shop, pizzeria, restaurant, and mini-market. Thus, the old store has grown and become an icon of the city, establishing itself as a meeting place for residents of the East Zone and attracting São Paulans from other regions.
Currently, Cepam offers everything from classics like warm French bread, hot sandwiches, and coffee with milk, to pizzas, pies, full meals, and desserts for all tastes. The mini-market also features ice cream, cheeses, and deli items.

Your holiday season isn’t complete without Cepam’s panettone!
As the months go by, the aroma of panettone and chocolate fills Cepam. That’s because, during the holiday season, the establishment also offers Village products, such as panettone, honey bread, chocolates, and other traditional Christmas treats.
And that’s just the beginning: there are over 5,000 products available to customers at São Paulo’s largest bakery. How about setting aside some time to explore everything up close? For your convenience, the location offers free parking and over 500 seats between the counter and the dining area with tables.
But to make your trip even more budget-friendly, you can visit it by public transportation! Cepam is a 20-minute walk from the Vila Prudente station (lines 2-Green and 15-Silver), making it the perfect destination for those seeking fair prices, quality, and tradition in São Paulo.
