Pelé’s mansion in Guarujá was once a symbol of luxury and prestige, reflecting the career of the greatest name in world soccer. Just as the miner was the star of the pitch, his beach house was the protagonist of big celebrity parties and became one of the hottest spots on the São Paulo coast.
However, since the athlete’s death in 2022, the mansion has seen less elegant days. The property, which occupies an entire block on Praia de Pernambuco, has gone from being a refuge for the famous to being the target of deterioration, vandalism and abandonment, surprising fans of the King of Football.

How is Pelé’s Mansion today?
Built in the 1980s, the property played a central role in the life of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, or Pelé. There, the star took refuge from the cameras with his family, receiving friends and illustrious names from sport and Brazilian society.
With 4,000 square meters, the property was a veritable oasis of leisure and refinement. In addition to the main house, Pelé built a gourmet area with a barbecue, sports courts, a swimming pool, a playground, a chapel and a large movie theater.
However, after his death, the lack of agreement between the heirs meant that the mansion was left empty. It was then that the property began to face conservation problems: gardens overrun by weeds, a swimming pool with greenish water and broken furniture. In addition, many of the remaining possessions were stolen, as vandals broke in frequently.

New chance: the King’s house could go up for auction
Because of its abandonment, Pelé’s Mansion has accumulated more than R$ 450,000 in IPTU debts. In addition, it was used as collateral for a R$7 million debt owed by the King’s companies, and is currently under seizure.
Given this scenario, it is likely that the property will be auctioned off along with Pelé’s other properties. For the time being, the Arantes do Nascimento family is looking for alternatives to resolve the debts and preserve the King of Football’s legacy, preventing the mansion from becoming yet another forgotten asset of Brazil’s stars. forgotten heritage of Brazil’s stars.
