After years of abandonment, Hebe’s Mansion in Morumbi has finally met its fate: it has been demolished to make way for a condominium. There is, however, another residence in São Paulo that is in a state of decay and legal imbroglio, despite all the luxury it witnessed in the past. We’re talking about Clodovil’s Mansion, abandoned since the fashion designer’s death in 2009.
For decades, Clodovil’s house was a symbol of glamor and sophistication. The property in Ubatuba, on the coast of São Paulo, had twenty rooms, a winter garden, a swimming pool overlooking the sea and even a secret passage. Today, however, the scenery is very different. Part of the mansion has been demolished and what remains is covered in weeds, cracks and other signs of degradation.

Why is Clodovil’s Mansion abandoned?
Despite its current state, the property was once worth R$1.6 million due to its grandeur: it had suites, party rooms, a chapel, a sauna and a garden with an artificial lake, all facing the sea. In addition to its luxury, Clodovil’s Mansion also stood out for its curious details. His bedroom suite, for example, had a secret passage that led outside in case of emergencies.
Despite all the glamor, since the fashion designer’s death, the place has been empty and unmaintained. In addition, a court order led to the demolition of part of the rooms, which further de-characterized the original design.
In 2018, a resident of Campinas bought the property for R$750,000, which was supposed to pay off the debts of the presenter’s estate. Many thought that would be the end of the Clodovil Mansion imbroglio, but the problems didn’t stop there.

Future of the residence remains uncertain
Clodovil’s Mansion is located between the beaches of Leo and Meio, on the banks of the BR-101 highway in Ubatuba – inside the Serra do Mar State Park. The property was built before the reserve existed, but the current condition prohibits the transfer of ownership of the property.
As a result, the woman from Campinas would only have the right to use the area, without being able to carry out renovations or restorations. When she found out, the buyer asked for the bid to be annulled, but the court denied the request and ordered that the right of use be transferred to her. However, the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the total demolition of the property for environmental reasons, and the transfer did not take place.
In the end, neither the total demolition nor the transfer of the right of use to the buyer came to fruition. The amount of the bid remains deposited in court, while Clodovil’s Mansion continues to be in a precarious situation, with no maintenance. Thus, the residence of one of Brazil’s greatest fashion icons continues to have an uncertain fate, holding memories of a glamorous past that has long since been lost.
