Since last Monday, the 19th, subway expansion and maintenance work have been causing traffic changes in São Paulo. According to the Traffic Engineering Company (CET), the construction work is affecting four locations in the state capital—including road closures on Marginal Tietê.
The changes may last up to four months and require drivers to be extra cautious. The expansion of Lines 2-Green and 15-Silver is the main cause of most of the closures, affecting primarily the northern and eastern regions.

Expansion of Line 15-Silver
Work on the monorail is causing a partial closure of Ragueb Chohfi Avenue through this Saturday (24), from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the following day. In the direction of Cidade Tiradentes, crews are blocking the left lane between Leandro Campanari and Custódio de Lima streets. In the São Mateus direction, the closure will be in effect between Alessandro Melani Street and the access ramp to Jacu-Pêssego Avenue.
Ragueb Chohfi Avenue is also experiencing changes near Boa Esperança Park due to construction on the future Boa Esperança monorail station. Through this Thursday (22), from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the following day, construction will close the section between Morro de Ouro and Francisco de Melo Palheta streets in the direction of Cidade Tiradentes.

Construction on Line 2-Green
The line’s expansion, which will extend the branch line to Guarulhos, impacts the Parque Novo Mundo area in the North Zone. This represents the largest project to date: for 120 days, Pedro Taques Pires Street will operate as a one-way street between Soldado Antônio Bento de Abreu and Tomé Rodrigues da Silva streets, in the direction of the Presidente Dutra Highway. Residents and pedestrians will retain local access.

Maintenance Work on Marginal Tietê
Finally, CET is alternating nightly closures between the central and express lanes on Marginal Tietê. The work will continue through this Saturday (24), always from 10:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. the following day, for road maintenance. Drivers do not need to take detours; they simply need to use the open lanes.
