O Jardim Botânico de São Paulo, com 360 mil metros quadrados destinados a visitação, oferece um passeio espetacular ao paulistano. Diversas paisagens proporcionam a oportunidade de observar e contemplar a natureza em meio à cidade. Lá, o visitante tem a oportunidade de desfrutar do espaço, além de conhecer espécies de plantas de São Paulo, do país e do mundo.
A partir de 1893, a administração pública estadual começou a desapropriar uma vasta área de mata nativa a fim de proteger a floresta e as nascentes do Riacho do Ipiranga, na zona Sul da cidade.
Até 1928, o naturalista mineiro Frederico Carlos Hoehne foi convidado pelo governo para implantar um horto botânico no local. Do projeto, nasceu o Jardim Botânico de São Paulo, considerado um dos melhores parques da cidade para se relaxar.
A encantadora biodiversidade da Mata Atlântica
Atualmente, o Jardim Botânico faz parte do Instituto de Botânica de São Paulo e está, geograficamente, inserido no Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga, conhecido como Parque do Estado.
Sua área mata atlântica abriga 380 espécies de árvores, utilizadas para fins de pesquisa e conservação. Além da vegetação, é possível observar alguns animais, como, por exemplo, o tucano de bico verde, a preguiça, bugios e roedores, que vivem livremente no jardim.

O jardim está localizado na Avenida Miguel Stéfano, 3687 – Água Funda e abre para visitação todos os dias, das 9h às 17h.
Você também pode visitar o Jardim Botânico sem sair de casa, através do tour virtual oferecido pelo Governo. Por aqui, você pode conhecer todos os espaços através do mapa do local, além de ver a galeria completa de fotografias. Mas, vai ser difícil não visitar pessoalmente depois dessa experiência.
