The Teatro Oficina is an artistic and architectural landmark in São Paulo which, since 1958, has symbolized the resistance and avant-gardism of São Paulo culture. As well as putting on plays, the venue also stages musical performances and even fashion shows, and is known for its innovative stage proposals.
In celebration of the company’s 67th anniversary, this month Teatro Oficina is offering guided tours that allow the public to explore its collection up close. It’s a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the unique universe of one of Brazil’s oldest and most traditional companies.

Do you know the history of Teatro Oficina Uzyna Uzona?
Teatro Oficina is home to the company of the same name, a benchmark in creation in Brazil. Founded by Zé Celso, the venue gained fame during the military dictatorship for its shows with critical and political themes, reinforcing its role of resistance in the São Paulo capital.
In addition to the shows, the theater building is a masterpiece in its own right. Its architectural project was designed by Lina Bo Bardi, also famous for works such as MASP and SESC Pompeia. The architect’s proposal was to create an accessible environment, bringing art closer to the streets and the audience closer to the cast. With its 50-meter corridor and glass walls, the space itself becomes the setting for the stories.
In 2015, Bo Bardi’s ingenuity was recognized: The Guardian newspaper chose Teatro Oficina Uzyna Uzona as the best theater in the world in the architectural design category. Points for São Paulo!
