If you’re looking for “compact housing”, know that the smallest apartment in Latin America is in São Paulo, and it’s for sale. But the price isn’t that small: to live in it, you’ll need to shell out R$320,000.
This is not a new phenomenon. With the rise in property prices and the desire to live in a good location, many people end up opting for smaller apartments, which can be more affordable than those with many square meters.
Discover the smallest apartment in Latin America
This small apartment is in the VN Nova Higienópolis in the neighborhood that gives it its name. The building, built by Vitacon, has studios of up to 79 square meters, ideal for those who live alone. In addition, the space offers various leisure options, such as a cinema lounge, shared kitchen and gym. There’s also coworking and bike parking there.
The smallest of the studios is 10 square meters and has a small bathroom, cupboard, sink and cooktop. It is recommended that the sleeping area has a sofa bed, so that when folded up, the resident has more space available.
What is the smallest apartment in the world?
If the size of the VN Nova Higienópolis surprised you, there are even smaller apartments around the world. Until 2024, the smallest was in Rotterdam, Holland. The place, named Cabanon (photo), is just 6.89 square meters.
It has a bathroom, a sleeping area, a mini-kitchen and even a spa. The difference is in the layout: the bed, for example, is on a kind of mezzanine above the kitchen and bathroom.
In addition, “capsule hotels” have become famous in Japan, where the sleeping area consists only of a cubicle with a bed built into the wall. Will we have “capsule apartments” in the future too?
