Santos Shrimp Festival will have discounts of up to 40%!
Avid seafood consumers may have noticed that there was a notable increase in the price of shrimp in the first quarter of 2025. This was because we were in the closed season, i.e. when fishing for this animal is prohibited. With the low supply and high demand, it became quite expensive to prepare dishes with shrimp.
The good news is that, with the return of fishing in May, prices have become more attractive. It is against this backdrop that the Santos Fish Market, the main one in the Baixada Santista, is holding its traditional Shrimp Festival! More than 20 fishmongers will be offering different varieties of shrimp, with even greater discounts than we see on the market now.
One of the most consumed varieties in Brazil, for example, is the seven barbas, whose kilo reached more than R$50.00 during the closed season. At the Shrimp Festival, however, the price is R$29.90 per kilo, which represents a 40% reduction in value.
Other varieties available are the famous pink shrimp, whose kilo has dropped from R$250.00 to R$160.00. While the pistol shrimp, which can reach up to 10 centimeters in length, has had its kilo reduced from R$280.00 to R$220.00.

The festival runs daily until this Sunday, the 1st. Visiting is free and takes place from Tuesday to Saturday, from 7am to 6pm, and Sunday, from 7am to 3pm.
