Discover the flavors of the Festa de São Vito 2026
This São Paulo tradition began in 1918, when immigrants from Polignano a Mare, in southern Italy, decided to honor the patron saint of their homeland. It was so successful that, by 1920, the Festa de São Vito had established itself as the largest celebration within the city’s Italian community.
The stars of the event are the “Mammas di San Vito, “ a group of women who lovingly preserve the original recipes of their ancestors. Every year, these women gather to prepare the delicacies on the menu. Among the highlights, you’ll find:
- Traditional pasta dishes, such as spaghetti and penne;
- Ficazza, Ficazzella, Guimirella, and barbecue snacks;
- Traditional sweets, such as Amaretti, Cannoli, and Castagnelli.
In addition, there will be juices, mulled wine, quentão, beer, and other beverages to accompany the feast.
