Get your boots and plaid shirt out of the closet, because the June festival season in São Paulo is about to begin! The first major festival of the season will be São João Gomes, whose completely free program features forró concerts, professional quadrilha dance groups, and tributes to Northeastern Brazilian culture.
The festivities will take place on May 16 and 17 at Villa-Lobos Park. The highlight of the program is João Gomes’s long-awaited concert in São Paulo, where the Pernambuco-born singer will perform piseiro and forró hits to get everyone dancing.

São João Gomes brings the best of the June festivals to São Paulo!
The São João Gomes project is an initiative by the artist to get people in the mood for the arraiás and celebrate the traditions of the Northeast. To that end, Villa-Lobos Park will be transformed into a complete “June festival town, ” complete with themed decorations and traditional foods.
The lineup emphasizes traditional rhythms, with forró pé de serraconcerts inspired by Luiz Gonzaga, fife bands, and contemporary forró. In addition, the audience will be able to enjoy performances by quadrilhas and bacamarteiros, folk groups that capture the essence of Sergipe and Pernambuco.
Finally, the most anticipated attraction is João Gomes himself , who will perform the hits from his album “Dominguinho” (2025) in a historic and free performance.
