You certainly know about winery tours, but did you know that it’s also possible to visit cheese factories? The Caminho do Queijo Paulista is an initiative of small producers in São Paulo, who welcome visitors to their farms to introduce them to the process of producing artisan cheeses.
The circuit currently has 16 producers from all over the state, many of whom have won national and international awards. They offer guided tours, tastings and contact with the countryside, making it an unmissable experience for anyone who loves dairy products!
Here’s more information on this tour that combines tourism, rural life and good food. After all, you don’t have to leave São Paulo to taste tasty cheeses!
Get to know the São Paulo Cheese Trail !
In 2017, 10 rural producers got together to create the Path. The aim was to give visibility and value to artisanal cheese production in São Paulo, as well as bringing consumers and producers closer together.
The project has grown over the years and today brings together 16 cheese farms in the state. Together they offer more than 100 varieties of dairy products, such as cow, goat, buffalo and sheep cheeses; fresh or cured, seasoned and much more.
You can try all this and much more at the tasting sessions held on the farms. In addition, guided tours show the artisanal production process up close, and the local emporiums are a treasure trove for those who want to bring home more delights!
