Following the inauguration of its annex building in March, MASP has just unveiled another novelty. It’s the interactive installation “Iván Argote: The Other, Me and the Others” that will occupy the museum’s open space!
With a length of 15 meters, the work has already been to countries such as France and Saudi Arabia, and will arrive in São Paulo this Thursday, the 10th. It will be free to visit every day from 10am to 11am. The aim is to turn the open-air space into an open-air playground, encouraging visitors to cooperate with each other in order to succeed.

“The Other, Me and the Others”: check out the new interactive installation at MASP
The installation at MASP features large seesaws that tilt as visitors move. When only one person walks along the platform, movement is almost minimal. But when several go up, it tilts to one side or the other, according to the movement of the group.
Although playful, the work brings up profound reflections on the relationship between individuals and society. After all, to achieve balance, we need the collaboration of the collective! Thus, the MASP hall will be the stage for a sensory and fun experience, encouraging visitors to interact with each other.
“The Other, Me and the Others” is by Iván Argote, a Colombian living in Paris. As well as producing films, photographs and performances, the artist creates large installations that occupy public spaces, reflecting on the relationship between the individual, society and public spaces.

Many more attractions in the MASP open space!
During the construction of MASP’s main building, architect Lina Bo Bardi designed the open space to be an open square. The space would then host events, meetings and cultural events.
In 2024, the São Paulo City Hall – which had managed the site until then – granted the space to the MASP administration which will be able to define the programming there for the next 20 years.
Iván Argote’s interactive installation is just the first in a series of events, exhibitions, demonstrations and presentations that will occupy MASP’s open-air space in the near future. We can’t wait!
