São Paulo is also responsible for the cutest new things you’ve ever seen! If in 2024 we celebrated the birth of the polar bear Nur at the São Paulo Aquarium, 2025 surprised us with a giraffe cub at the city’s largest zoo.
The zoo’s newest resident can now be visited and we guarantee: he’s very cute! So, if you’re looking for a family outing, how about taking the kids to meet this little giraffe?
Meet the zoo’s newest guest:
The Angolan giraffe cub, who doesn’t yet have a name, is a “big baby” standing 2 meters tall. The son of Palito and Mel, his pregnancy lasted 14 months (the ideal time for the species) and he was born on May 29th.
The mammal is a male, came into the world in great health and the birth was closely monitored by the zoo ‘s biologists and veterinarians to ensure the safety of the family, whose species is classified as “vulnerable” to extinction.
Today, the “baby giraffe” lives in the same area as its mother and can now be visited by the public. In addition, SP Zoo is running a campaign on social media to decide on the name of the park’s newest guest. Check out which ones are being voted on:
- Melman;
- Melito;
- Lollipop;
- Girafales.
Explore the SP Zoo!
This is a great option for the whole family, especially those with children. As well as meeting the giraffe cub and the other inhabitants of São Paulo Zoo, visitors can also take part in other tours and activities within the Zoo complex, such as the Aqua Safari tour, the Dino World, Mining and Animal Night.
