From May 13 to 17, the Piracicaba Festival of Nations is back for its highly anticipated 2026 edition. Considered one of the region’s most traditional celebrations, the event has been bringing together cuisine, culture, and philanthropy for over four decades.
Fortunately for São Paulo residents, this city in the interior of São Paulo state is an accessible destination: it is just 150 kilometers from the capital, making the festival a surefire weekend activity.

Leisure and solidarity
The history of the Festa das Nações began in 1983 under the organization of the Piracicaba Social Solidarity Fund, the municipality’s Center for Social Works, and charitable institutions . The goal was to create a major cultural and philanthropic event to raise funds for social projects.
Since then, the event has become the largest Festa das Nações in the interior of São Paulo. Over the course of 40 editions, it has welcomed more than 2.5 million visitors and, through its total revenue, has benefited 30,000 people in vulnerable situations.

Piracicaba Festival of Nations 2026: the “Year of Lights”
Under the theme “Year of Lights,” the 2026 festival aims to expand immersive experiences and introduce new nations to the program.
Visitors will be able to sample traditional foods from 20 different countries, including the Netherlands, Mozambique, Mexico, France, Japan, Italy, South Korea, and Thailand. In addition, the cultural program features:
- Foreign folk dances;
- Queens of the Festa das Nações;
- Live performances of samba, jazz, orchestras, and other genres;
- Ferris Wheel;
- Tunel Estelar (an Instagram-worthy attraction featuring lights, colors, and sensory experiences);
- Planetarium Sessions.
The event will take place at Engenho Central, a historic building dating back to 1881 on the banks of the Piracicaba River that still preserves its original architecture today. Why not take advantage of the weekend to check it out?
